WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & DEVELOPMENT (WED) CELL
“Women Empowerment Cell” is a society run exclusively by girls for girls. All of its programs are aimed at achieving the dictum of Embodiment, Empowerment and Enhancement of Women. It creates awareness of the Women’s Right and to empower Women. It develops, encourage and disseminate knowledge about women’s roles in society and economic trends which affect women’s lives and status.
Women Empowerment & Development Cell was inaugurated on 5th September 2014 by Dr.A.K.Natesan, Chairman, Excel Group of Institutions. He explained about the basic needs & rights of women in the society. WED Cell plans to teach the legal rights and needs at every stage of women to the rural students & nearby rural area poor women.
Our college Student Ms. K.Nivetha II year (ECE) and Ms. S.Chithra(III year) CSE achieved 1st and 2nd Prize for best poetry conducted by Indian Medical Association & IMA Women’s wing, IMA Kids Club and also awarded our college Principal Dr.P.Malathi, M.E.,P.hd as Women Achiever on 10th September 2014.
National science day was celebrated on 28th February 2015. A pledge was taken by the students and trees were planted in their respective department names.
International Women’s Day was celebrated on 08th March 2015 at our college campus, Mrs. LeelavathiElayappan, Chairman, Mrs.SamboornamRamasamy, Secretary and trust members along with the eminent members from Indian Medical Association & IMA Women’s wing, IMA Kids Club and Kurinjie Malar Friends Organization, Attur, presided over the function.
The campaign was officially launched on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi by our Prime Minister NarendraModi. The best memorial to Mahatma Gandhi would be to achieve a “Clean India” by 2019, his 150th birth anniversary. It has been carried forward since then with people from all walks of life joining it. We have provided the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program to lead the Clean India Campaign in your society, community, schools or colleges to initiate cleanliness in the surrounding areas and make this drive a successful campaign under Women Empowerment and Development Cell
